Autumn 2016: When Fabric Upped its Game
01:26
Nothing pleases me more than when the
Autumnal clothing begins to appear in shops. Okay, it might still be Summer so
far as the calendar is concerned, but I’m all for this next season. This year,
it’s not just the leafy tones and preppy cuts that have me “falling”, but also
the range of fabrics that grace the rails: from lace to embroidery, Autumn
clothing is leafing its mark.
Twirl like a ballerina in tulle
Keeping up the transition from Summer and
refusing to comply with the harshness of the British weather, this year sees tulle in pastels…see, it’s basically an investment! I mean, layer with a
jumper, high neck, or thick cardi, and you’re set for the chilly months to
come, or, pop it in your suitcase (no need to worry about crinkles), and jet
off for some sun, knowing that the short sleeves and thin fabric will keep you
feeling, and looking cool.

Be the lady of love in lace
I’m a massive fan of lace, and have been
for some time, and, much like the tuille, lace is versatile, elegant and uber
feminine. Layered under a pinafore or tucked into a high-waisted skirt,
finished off with brogues or boots, ready for an Autumnal dog walk or a trip to
the city, lace knows the way.

Shine like the star you are in sparkles
With Bonfire Night and firework season not
too far away, light up your wardrobe with a bit of glitter, a scatter of
sequins and a whole lot of party potential. The nights may well be closing in,
but that’s no excuse to revert to black polo necks all the time. As ASOS
proves, sparkly fabric is set to stay…and why, oh why would we ever want to
lose such shimmering top gains?!

Flutter your way to the top in floral
embroidery
Intricate details will never get old, but
when the cardis and coats comes out to play, the details have a tendency to get
hidden away under a layer or four, let’s instigate some serious embroidery envy
with these Zara shirts, so pretty you’ll be braving the chill! Perfect with
jeans, or dressed up with thick tights and a skirt, these shirts work both as
easy Saturday wear, or as a more “tied together” week day crowd-pleaser…either
way, you’ll be more than just the girl next door!

I’ve already complied a wishlist, and
started on the Christmas list, because, well, with styles like this, how on
earth can we resist?! Just like the leaves fall off the trees, I’m blaming
gravity for my fully blown, head over heels, descent into Autumnal wonderland!
