A Christmas Gift Guide for the Fussy to the Fancy!

06:32

With less than 10 days until Christmas Day, sorry, sorry, don't mean to cause panic, and the relatives desperately asking for present ideas, this quick gift guide has something for everyone...from the fussy to the fancy!

1. Nothing says homely, cosy and “in for the night” like an open fire, a snuggly blanket and a candle flickering away. With their first UK distribution store opening in 1999, just down the road from us in Bristol, Yankee Candle are a well- established family favourite. They offer a scent for all occasions, all year round, but their Christmas candles make the perfect festive present that will remain once the 25th draws to a close. From Christmas classics, such as “Christmas Memories” and “Nutcracker” to this year’s new “Christmas Cocktail” and “All is Bright”...the bells sure are ringing out for Christmas.

2.Never have quirky coffee shops been more popular, but those “cappuccinos to go” soon begin to drink away our pennies. Why not invest in some fancy mugs of your own, some decent coffee and some distinct T2 Tea tea leaves and you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped out of a New York film set. The best bit? You can stay in your pjs, complete with fluffy socks, and take said cup of comfort back to bed!

3. Offering a whole jungle/farmyard/ woodland of cuddly collectables, Jellycat are bound to have at least one furry friend fit for your little one. From Peanut Penguin, to Polka Reindeer and not forgetting Christmas Bitsy, these adorable creatures will earn smiles all round.

4. So, we all have those London friends/collegues/shooting pals who seem whole-heartedly convinced that us country-folk spend the entirety of our time wandering the hills at our will. Live up to the stereotype, but prove we don’t all dress like farmers with these funky welly socks from Next.

5.Ssshhh, “confidentially speaking”, nothing says calm and collected like the perfect planner. Anthropologie’s Idiom Journal comes in a variety of colours, from pastel purple to glitzy gold, and holds a certain “je ne sais quoi”. It’s all in “the fine print” with these gorgeous journals, ready to take to the boardroom, or organize the family. And, being unlined they’re flexible to whatever demands your life may hold and wherever your “master plan” may take you...

6. Rode-based and featuring at the Bath Christmas Market, Choc on Choc is the perfect go-to for the chocoholic in your life (we all have one...most of them have, at least at some point in their lives, set themselves the New Year’s resolution of the “eat less chocolate” variety...and if they haven’t, well, chances are they’ll be embarking on that treacherous course come January 1st. In which case, they had better do some serious compensating for their negligence! choconchoc.co.uk

7. When you’re most stressed, most bedraggled, the kids are driving you mad and the house is a pig sty, it’s almost a given that your most-organised friend will “just pop by”... It’ll also just so happen that your most-organised friend is also you’re busiest friend, with the most kids, spends the majority of her day multi-tasking and managing a 101 different things, and generally can only be described as “Little Miss Super Duper Organised”. She’s the kind of woman/wife/mother we all secretly wish we were a little more akin to, and this Anthropologie travel mug just completes the picture of ultimate composure. Note: if all else fails, maybe this could double up as a gift to oneself... for the woman we wish we could be...a girl can dream, right?! anthropologie.com/en-gb

8. With the kids sorted and the friends catered for, you can no longer push this one to the bottom of the list: so, what do you get the man of your life? I love this leather document holder from BeGolden at notonthehighstreet.com (and for future reference, this website will, quite literally, save your life...or at least take the stress out of present-shopping).

9. Silent night, all was calm, all was bright...there’s no reason not to include your four-legged friends in the festivities. Let’s be honest, they’re probably better behaved than the children, and they will look considerably cuter dressed up with antlers...Keep them cosy in this Accessorize puppy onesie! uk.accessorize.com
10. Come December, the Christmas tree is our pride and joy. Whether you have a theme or a colour scheme, baubles and décor is always tempting. As a child, my mother guarded our tree with her life and decorating it involved military precision. This year, why not support local designer, Adele Zara Collinson and her company Felt So Good. Fairtrade and handmade, these lovely little animals can be found at this year’s Christmas Market.

With all that sorted, the presents wrapped and the carrot ready for Rudolf, all that’s left to say is: HAVE YOURSELVES A MERRY LITTLE (EHM, ENORMOUS) CHRISTMAS TIME.
